As former operating people in the homebuilding and building products businesses, we have always understood that recruiting and retaining talented people is the single most important determinant of organizational success. But our inability in those days to find, assess, and recruit top performers with any consistency at all was discouraging and frustrating.

Our clients engage The Daniels Group to discover and recommend more qualified candidates than they can find on their own. We can accomplish this for three general reasons.

1) Our candidate pool is wide and deep. Because we have always concentrated our recruiting efforts in the real estate field, we are often able to initiate new searches with our extensive network of ‘A’ players in various positions, with whom we have already spoken in some depth.

Because we have conducted searches in all regions of the country, we are already quite familiar with many markets. Of course it is easier for any executive recruiter to confidentially approach the strongest candidates, usually too busy and successful to be looking for a job.

2) Collaboration between client stakeholders and our principal. To optimize the strategic design of the search, we visit our clients for a day, at our expense. We help to refine and clarify the required skills, experience, and critical vs. desirable job competencies. We’ll share our opinions about an effective compensation package to attract ‘A’ players.

The more we learn, the more accurately we can target appropriate candidates. We’d like to look at product and the surrounding residential community. To effectively present the opportunity to the right people, we must understand the benefits and the challenges from the candidates’ points of view.

3) Our refined search process. Because we know the industry from the inside, we understand the issues we need to explore in depth. After interviewing thousands of candidates, we have developed the ability to separate the seasoned performers from the great interviewers.

We offer rigorous evaluation procedures for personality profiles, thorough reference checks, and background examinations. We are often instrumental, through persuasion and clarification, in mediating any gaps between the offer and the acceptance.
